As a thank you to the cadets for all their hard work this year the unit is hosting a mess dinner!
Mess dinners are deeply rooted with military history and customs for all branches dating back 100's of years. A mess dinner is like a parade in the sense of its formality, but is set in a friendlier and cohesive atmosphere. It is an opportunity for the unit as a whole to come together, break bread, and enjoy each others company as they meet for this friendly yet formal occasion.
This mess dinner will have award presentations to some of our cadets. These awards are in addition to the awards given during the Annual Ceremonial Review. There are many cadets we want to recognize, but also don't want to force our cadets to stand on parade for hours to go through them all - so we give a large chunk out during our mess dinner.
Although traditionally these dinners are attended by only unit members, Mess Dinners are intended to be happy family occasions, and not boring stuffy affairs. This is why we are extending invitation to the families of our cadets. We hope that you will join us in celebrating the accomplishments of the unit this year, while experiencing a uniquely historic style of dining.
Due to the formality of this event we are asking that all guests be over the age of 10 years old.
Date: Sunday June 15th 2025
Location: Arden Park Hotel (552 Ontario St. Stratford)
Time: Cadets and Guests are asked to arrive for 5pm | Dinner will start for 6pm sharp! (Event will be finish approx 830pm)
Dress: Cadets and staff will be in Mess Dress (for cadets this means their blue uniform, but instead of the blue dress shirt, they need to wear a white collared shirt under their tunic - the unit will be supplying cadets with black bowties for the evening) | Guests are asked to dress semi-formal.
Cost: this dinner will be no cost to the cadets as it is a thank you for them. We are asking families that plan to attend contribute $55/each for their tickets to help the unit offset the costs for this event.
